I gave up trying to use MM 4 a couple years ago due to issues I couldn't figure out. I thought I'd try again, but right off, I can't find any way to add a grid in Map Mode, only in Frame Mode, which isn't any help in creating a map. I sent an email to MapMaker, bout no reply as yet. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I too would like to create a grid on a map. I want to create regular sample points 100m by 100m for example.

However it is possible to create a grid on the printed map. Which is not quite what I want.

Do that from the 'Page' tab. Choose edit/grid then create the grid as you want it.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Mark

Mark,

Thanks for the reply. I still haven't found a way to add a real grid in map mode and I am aware of the grid capability in Frame mode. One thing I found though is that you have to apply the grid after you have sized the frame and centered the map in the frame. Everything is locked in position as soon as the grid is applied.

I found a way to add a pseudo grid in Map mode. I finally figured out a use for the Vector Utility "Generate cells" Just select rectangle, fill in the appropriate info for the size area you want to cover, and save it. you can then load it in your project's live layer and edit the cells and lines with no fill.

It's a lot less useful than a real grid, however you could easily create your points, I believe. Make sure the cells have no fill so you can lay it over your map. This method doesn't work well however if you need to zoom in and out a lot.
